The Shenandoah Region held dual events in Charlottesville and Midlothian. The Charlottesville group met at the new Flow Porsche of Charlottesville. Members then drove to the Blue Ridge Food Bank to make their donations. Members were treated to lunch at fellow member Terry Vassalos’s restaurant, Tip Top. The Midlothian contingent conducted a dual region event with First Settlers. Members met at Euroclassics Porsche. After completing the donations, we had a driving tour to Fine Creek Brewing Company in Powhatan, VA. Fine Creek welcomed both regions with special entrees for our visit. Each region provided lunch for their participating members. The combined donations are a new record! These are very impressive numbers! Donations by Weight: 1961 lbs. (This provides 2362 meals) Monetary Donations: $9525 (This provides 38,100 meals) Both events totaled 40,462 meals.

We were rewarded with spectacular fall weather for our anniversary party. The turnout this year was 18% over last year. Our favorite caterer/restaurant, Bacio Mediterranean, provided an outstanding culinary experience and everyone loved the Greek, Italian and Lebanese influenced offering. Raif Antar, the restaurant owner, is a former region member. The winery parking lot was once again a beautiful array of Porsches. I spoke with the vineyard owner who had hoped her husband had arranged for the cars to be on display for her to make selection as a birthday surprise. She was so thrilled to have our group that she said she would like to do more for us on our next visit.

We began the weekend with a cocktail party at Euroclassics Porsche in Midlothian. This was the best attended pre-RPM party we have held with 110 members from Shenandoah, First Settlers and Blue Ridge Regions. Tim and Andrea Messer managed the full bar throughout the evening and contributed greatly to the evening's success. Member's Porsches filled the parking lot and the evening was perfect for great conversations while viewing all of the cars and the outdoor setting. Paul Murphy, Euroclassics' Customer Experience Manager, provided a wonderful array of hor D'oeuvres for the group to enjoy. I would like to thank everyone at Euroclassics for having us. Registration for RPM this year was the highest since 2016. The event was held a∂t Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, VA for our second year. We had a great turnout for both the Concours d' Elegance and the Porsche Corral. We had two short periods of showers during the event which did not dampen anyone's spirits. The goody bag everyone received at registration was prepared by new members Ron and Carrie Henaghan. Ron has a background in motorsports marketing and reached out to his contacts for the donated items. Thank you Ron and Carrie. The chef at Independence Golf Club prepared an outstanding lunch for us in the clubhouse ballroom. Lunch was a white cloth napkin affair. The entree was grilled chicken and shrimp along with an array of side dishes which were delicious and beautifully presented. The Gay Jewett Memorial People's Choice award went to Engelbert Muelhaupt for his black 1984 911 Carrera Targa. Jeffrey Elmore received the Judge's Choice award for the most significant Porsche with his silver 1999 911 Carrera 4. Congratulations to them both.
Everyone who attended had an outstanding time.

Jonathan Perelman was the tour lead for this terrific drive. We met at Chiles Peach Orchard in Crozet which was a very nice and unique setting for the beginning of a region drive. Members were enjoying ice cream, freshly made doughnuts and purchasing some delicious fruit preserves. We had 35 cars and 55 people attending. We had several members from the local SAAB club join us and we always enjoy having them. Our tour lead had us head south on the Blue Ridge Parkway which provided some breathtaking vistas of the east and west valleys. The elevations were amazing. Our first stop was the Montebello Store just a short distance from the BRP. The selection of roads heading north from Montebello were nothing short of perfect Porsche Roads! We observed a group of trout fishermen preparing to do some fly fishing in a stream visible from the road. We arrived at Hazy Mountain Winery and Brewery to our own reserved mezzanine. I was told the views from Hazy Mountain are superb, but I must say they are some of the best Virginia has to offer. Everyone had a wonderful day with excellent roads and great camaraderie at each stopping point.

Region members were provided a very in depth and interesting session on exterior and dash lighting by fellow member Engelbert Meulhaupt. Engelbert has been assembling LED lighting kits to retrofit into classic Porsches for 8 years. He has determined the correct LED for each application. To our amazement, he also has an LED manufacturer producing to his specifications. The kits he provides are all pre- engineered with complete instructions. They are literally plug and play. We were given demonstrations on the different headlight illumination systems over the many years lighting has evolved. Engelbert has built a Porsche gauge display showing the level of illumination of the original incandescent bulbs and the engineered LED systems. When it comes to taillights, we learned that amber and red must be the color of the LED, not a clear bulb as with used with incandescent lighting combined with a colored lens. Engelbert's company is Carmagic, LLC

Max Shumeyko, the owner of Detail – Driven in Harrisonburg, VA provided our region members an outstanding session on the techniques of installing protective windshield film. Detail – Driven provides paint correction (returning the original vehicle finish luster), vehicle detailing, vehicle protective film, wraps and ceramic coating. Detail – Driven provided the finish detailing for the 2019 Best In Show Porsche at the Porsche Parade and the Preservation Class winner at the 2021 Porsche Parade. These are the most stringent Concours judged events hosted by PCA.

New member, Cecile Graziano stopped in at Merrie Mill Farm returning from our March 27 driving tour in Orange and Madison Counties. Cecile felt the venue was worth a visit by the Shenandoah members. We have not done many events on a weeknight, but we thought we would give it a try. We began at 5:30 PM on Friday evening with registrations for the event reaching capacity early in the week. The objective was a venue we could mingle and socialize. The second-floor balcony was reserved for our group which provided a gorgeous view looking west over the vineyard and the mountains. We had nothing short of perfect weather to complement the evening. Merrie Mill had live music playing on the ground level. The winery brings in food trucks to compliment their offerings. Friday, we were treated to Salty Bottom Blue Oysters from Gwynn's Island, Virginia. Their selection was either roasted or raw oysters on the half shell. The oysterman was actually shucking the oysters. The oyster lovers in the group were in heaven! A fantastic evening was had and something we will need to do again.

We began the year with our first driving tour which was everything we could have asked for. Ray Chung was the tour lead and provided the region with an outstanding drive through Orange and Madison Counties. We had almost 40 cars and just under 60 people attending. This is an excellent turnout for late March. Bates McLain and Dan Graff provided their assistance to Ray with their knowledge of the two counties and tour organization. The drive concluded in the Town of Orange at Iron Pipe Alewerks. Iron Pipe had delicious pizza and some of the best brewed beer in the area.

What a spectacular day for the first weekend in March. Early March can be risky planning an outdoor event in Virginia. This was our second social gathering for 2022 and the weather gods were looking out for our region. Mount Ida proved to be a beautiful venue south of Charlottesville in Scottsville, VA. Dan Graff suggested we place this destination on our calendar. This was a two part endeavor. Our first stop on the Mount Ida grounds was the Craft Cville presents Galentine's Redo Pop Up Market. The women crafters of Charlottesville were displaying and selling their creative work. The level of artistic talent was very apparent. After perusing the craft displays, members drove to the Winery and Taphouse. The beverages were delicious and everyone enjoyed the culinary selection. Those members sitting with David and Susana Weber were invited to play croquet at their home upon departing Mount Ida. The Webers transferred to the Shenandoah Region from the Northeast after finding Virginia to be such a wonderful place to settle. They love croquet and have a professional croquet course. Those in attendance all thought they knew how to play croquet until they played with the Webers. What a wonderful experience to cap an already fantastic day.

The Shenandoah Region hosted our annual Holiday Party at Michie Tavern after a one year Covid hiatus. Sam Morris, the Tavern general manager of 43 years, welcomed us back with an outstanding evening that everyone enjoyed. Our charity for this event was the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots. We were wonderfully surprised to have two active duty Marines join us to accept the Toys for Tots donations our members so graciously provided.
![]() We filled Michie Tavern to capacity for our annual Holiday Party. We were very fortunate to have Bill Blodgett celebrate his Birthday with us that evening. Bill was rewarded with a full region chorus of “Happy Birthday to You”!

The Shenandoah Region hosted our annual charity event to provide meals for those in need by supporting the Blue Ridge Food Bank in Charlottesville and Feed More in Richmond the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Members in Charlottesville met at Flow Porsche and members in Midlothian met at Euroclassics Porsche. The Midlothian event had a great deal of support from First Settlers Region members. Mike and Mary Ball of First Settlers and Harold Singh of Shenandoah assisted with registration.
![]() The Charlottesville team were treated to lunch by the region at Tip Top Restaurant. The Midlothian group did a driving tour to Fine Creek Brewing Company in Powhatan, VA. Each region provided lunch for their respective members at Fine Creek.
![]() The cumulative donations for both events was 1985 lbs of food and $7380 in checks. This is a new record for the region. I would like to thank each participant for their contribution to this outstanding cause. I would like to encourage those of you who were not able to make this event to please join us next year to allow us to continue to increase our annual donation.

The Shenandoah Region annual picnic was held on October 30 at the lovely and picturesque Harkaway Farm in Keswick, VA. The Barvarian Chef catered the event with an outstanding selection of German food. The event sold out and we had 100 members in attendance.
![]() The weather provided us a high of 61° and no rain. Everyone had a terrific afternoon. We have traditionally had the annual picnic in August which has always been very warm. The end of October provided wonderful change to a crisp fall setting.
![]() Entrance to Harkwaway Farm Steve Upman won the auto detailing raffle from Automotive Aesthetics. Dick Pitman, Ray Chung and Mike Early were awarded their Concours Class Winner trophies from RPM. We would like to thank Mark Sackson for hosting the event at Harkaway Farm.
