For those of us who remember the glory days of the IMSA (International Motor Sports Association) GT Championship back in the 70's, there were, perhaps, no more glorious days than those of Peter Gregg and his #59 red, white, & blue Brumos Porsche winning championship after championship. The Jacksonville, Florida Porsche dealer definitely lived up to his nickname, "Peter Perfect."

Gregg's attention to detail in preparing his Porsches prior to every race, coupled with his ability to leave nothing to chance, found Peter being compared to the now-legendary Roger Penske (who also knows a thing or two about racing Porsches). Gregg not only had the best equipment, but he made sure that his Brumos Porsches were better prepared than any of his competition.

Peter Gregg didn't just win races, he dominated IMSA for nearly a decade. Between 1971 and 1979, Gregg won six IMSA GT Championships (1971, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1978, and 1979), and racked up 41 victories including three wins at the famed Daytona Rolex 24-hour race with his co-driver and long-time friend, Hurley Haywood. He also won the Sebring 12-Hour race, twice finished on the podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and won two TransAm titles. At the time of his death by his own hand in 1980, Peter Gregg was acknowledged to be one of America's greatest road racers of his time.

"Made in Jacksonville" was no joke—Gregg and his Brumos Porsche team, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, virtually rebuilt their Porsche race cars to ensure that they were "perfect."
