Barry Dorn explained to us why "The future is here" in collision repair, for better or for worse. Aluminum lowers weight to meet government fuel economy standards, but is much more difficult (and expensive) to repair than steel.

Aluminum-only clean rooms are required avoid galvanic corrosion by steel. Here an aluminum Jaguar Land Rover frame rail has been welded and riveted. Radars in this damaged Tesla bumper must be recalibrated.
